Winyah consists of 5 guys who grew up in Pawleys Island and Georgetown. (Luke Gordon- Lead Guitar, Vocal) (Thomas Rowland- Lead Vocal, Guitar) (Stephen Russell- Bass, Vocal) (Jim Carr- Drums) (Rob Buffington- Keys) Very passionate about where they come from that salty black water is in their veins. What better name to call themselves than the people of the black water other wise known as the Native American term Winyah.

Each member has played with other bands and by themselves chasing the dream but after coming together in the spring of 2023 to form the band it was evident during that first practice these guys had something special. A handful of months down the road taking any show they could get their hands on they managed to make enough money to go hit the studio, all thanks to The Abnormals for allowing them to use their sound system.

After releasing their debut EP ‘Long Time Comin’ they have landed their first ticketed show to headline the Winyah Auditorium on March 16. Both Luke and Rob’s dads play in The Abnormals. (Tommy Gordon- Lead Guitar, Vocal) (Matt Stover- Drums, Vocal) (Ab Wilkinson- Mandolin, Guitar, Vocal) (Bobby Buffington- Banjo) (Matt Ellis- Bass) The Abnormals have helped Winyah grow into the band they are today which is why it’s so fitting to have the stage shared with two generations of homegrown musicians.
